I'm a guy and my main character is a guy.
When I first started to play I had all male characters but after a year of playing I started to get bored and when the new professions came out I made female characters, rit and sin.
Since then I have been making both male and female characters in part based on the profession and in part based on the armor or even the dance the character is capable of. I do tend to spend most of my time on my main character.
I don't feel there is anything wrong with a guy having a female character so long as he is playing the game and not just staring at his own creation.

I'm female playing both male and female characters. My main is female.
*I* don't really care, but I've noticed I get less lewd comments and proposals if I play a male char.
Though there have been times when people refuse to believe I'm female, because EVERYONE knows that only 14 year old boys play female chars in RPGs, right?

I'm a male with both male and female characters:
Warrior - male (Main), i always like my Main to be the same sex as myself
Necro - female - used to be my second most played character
Ranger - male
Ele - male
Monk - female
Mesmer - female
Ritualist - female becuz i like her dance more than the male counterpart, my second most played character now becuz of SOS haha
Assassin - male, also becuz of the dance
Paragon - female
Dervish - male
so it turns out to be 5 males and 5 females for me...didnt plan on it just happened to end up like that...
Also have a -
mule mesmer - male, just cuz i have a female mesmer already
pvp char necro - male, but doesnt really count cuz remake this char slot very frequently

Dude with only female chars.. as to why, it's not because I want to stare at their butts all day or that it's like playing w/ dolls. It's because. . . I secretly wish i was a woman.
Edit: Oops it's not a secret anymore? Lawl.

i'm male, i used to have females only, but have 1 male warrior (on my 1st account), on my 2nd acc i have more male than i have on my 1st acc, but i like looking at female forms (ok, just female pixels)
since i mostly play on my 1st account, you can see i prefer female chars over male, just cuz they look better... IMO
that 1 male war.... its some sort of roleplay character, the rest are to try out builds + 1 pre sear char
my main char is my female Rit, cuz i like lightning dmg+burning (spirit burn) and some spirits (and she is the only one with all asura summons)
^^in case you wanna know^^

Wow, thread necromancy FTW.
I'm female, and when I started I made mostly female characters. But I like diversity (I also have characters of different ethnicities), and had a lot of fun just looking at all the different appearance choices. Some of the males were pretty good looking. Extra character slots meant I could have one of each profession and I ended up with a male assassin and a male paragon. I tried a female assassin, but my playing buddy had taken the only hairstyle I liked and I wanted to have my own identity, so I made a guy instead. I like how he looks, and I like the personality for him that has emerged.
The paragon was a little more difficult -- both males and females are very pretty, but since I already had a grunting female NF character (dervish), I didn't want to have to listen to another. So I settled on the male.
*shrug* I grew up playing with Barbie and Ken -- and all their friends -- so acting as characters different from myself comes pretty natural.
I do have a friend in game who takes it all very literally, though: All his characters are male, they all have his real first name. And he refuses to play his dervish because he "doesn't like wearing a dress."

wow , 3 years and still going strong?
I actually look at the armor gallery before deciding on the gender.
Like how I'm chasing Norn Ritualist female armor because it looks so much better than anything else Rit.
my main was a Male Warrior btw

I have both female and male characters, but my active characters are female for aesthetic reasons (they look prettier and their armors are nicer). Candidly, I've always thought a number of the GW male char designs are unattractive if not downright ugly. I'd personally rather go around taking the occasional risk of being mistaken for someone of the opposite gender (all my own guildmates know I'm really a guy, and have no problems with my choice of character) than run around with ugly toons.

I'm a male but I usually do some armor look research before making a character. Personally I find most females have better looking armor.

I'm a guy. 10 PvE characters, 6 of which at this point are female, 4 are male.
Necromancer: Female
Ritualist: Male
Paragon: Male
Mesmer: Female
Dervish: Female
Monk: Female
Elementalist: Male
Assasin: Female
Ranger: Female
Warrior: Male
If I make a PVP character for something, it's usually of the opposite sex as my PvE character is, just for chuckles.
I started off making male only characters for a year or two, but began to spread out, and re roll a few characters, mostly due to the fact that I feel like some times a particular sex has much better armor options for some classes. Also, while I do tend to ignore my character in combat situations, there is a pretty large social aspect to this game, and quite a lot of my playtime is taken up chatting or hanging out with guildies, so I do care about my character's appearance to some degree.

I'm a female, and other than one toon I made specifically to carry a bunch of things over to post for me, my toons are female as well. Granted, I haven't actually "developed" other toons... made a couple just to do it, but haven't really played them aside from the absolute minimum for whatever my goals were at the time of creation.
I created a second account today because, between the sale on the Trilogy on Steam, and the NCSoft sale on EotN, it seemed silly to "not" do it when there's the potential for me really wishing I had another account down the road. Good a time as any. I may end up creating and playing a male toon with that at some point.
Some days I wish I'd made my main toon male... I get some really rather obnoxious proposals, and a few idiots who couldn't take a hint (I'm talking to YOU, dude who wasn't put off by my weasel/attack-alligator-chastity-belt) no matter how much I tried to laugh off their advances. It kind of amuses me, actually - because on the one hand, I see a lot of "girls don't game/you're a guy" garbage... but then, if these guys REALLY believe women don't game, what's it say when they're running around whispering, "hot toon" to every babe in Ascalon?
Then again, I got told the other day that there's no way in hell I'm as old as I say I am, because "everyone knows" that women my age aren't into gaming.
Yes kids, I really do remember when Elvis died, when Reagan got shot, when Di married Charles, when the Challenger exploded and where I was/what I was doing when each happened.
I've learned to not make assumptions about someone's gender though... I pretty much figure that if they want me to know, they'll tell me... and otherwise, it really doesn't make any difference - I know females can game as well, or as poorly, as males... and since I'm not looking to "hook up" with anyone, it just doesn't matter what gender is running the keyboard and mouse.

Female characters. All of them since they are just more aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. Never did like some of the male character looks, so I went with an all female entourage of toons (not that some of the female designs aren't horrible themselves).
I'm crossing my fingers on greater freedom in GW2 so we don't have a bajillion assassin-lookalikes. Obsidian + Blindfold + Hairstyle(#).

Since I've been into electronics for most of my life, I'm used to thinking of male and female as just slightly different aspects of the same thing (particularly, connectors). Therefore, I don't really think of GW characters as being women or men - I'm not that much into the role playing aspect of things. To me, male & female is no more significant than Luxon & Kurzick or Horde vs Alliance.

I generally pick female characters.
If I'm going to be staring at a character's ass for many hours, I'd prefer it be female.

I'm male and I have 7 males and 1 female character. I used to have more females but I found myself deleting them and making a male substitute instead. My only female is a ranger, and if I could, I would change her into a dude (don't have credit card >_>). So yeah, basicly all male for me.

Funny, because sprites don't have balls in this game.
Also, some of us men are secure in our sexuality that we can play female characters.
